I purchased Dragon NaturallySpeaking and found that the included headset was very poor quality which resulted in Dragon NaturallySpeaking barely functioning. I decided to buy a quality headset. I chose the Andrea NC-185VM USB digital headset. It cost about $50. now Dragon almost always gets my speech right. I'm a student and write a lot of papers so Dragon has been an invaluable asset to my coursework. You may also want to consider the Andrea NC-185 analog version for about $30 if you don't have a USB port on your computer. If it is as good as the digital version, you should be very well satisfied.
Speech recognition requires a fine microphone. Even following recommendations by the manufacturer of Dragon Naturally Speaking, I had some trouble. One highly rated USB headset rarely did better than nineteen as rated by DNS! And its recognition rate was not up to snuff. But with this headset by Andrea, a test showed a rating of twenty-six, and the number of mistakes has fallen significantly. This headset does the job!
